Where to file your divorce in California?

Where you file the papers for your divorce depends upon several factors, but essentially you file in the county where you or your spouse live. The SquareFairy application will automatically determine the county and available courthouses based on the information you provide, but will also allow you to override that decision on the Personal Information summary screen, by clicking the edit icon next to COURT ADDRESS.

On the California Courts site (https://www.courts.ca.gov/12275.htm), you can also answer the relevant questions about where you lived for the last 6 months (in order to file in California) and for the last 3 months (to determine the appropriate county).
