But they could not agree on the value of their extensive, and apparently beloved, art collection. So, as many divorcing couples do, they sold it off and will split the proceeds. Except doing so will hit them with a bill of over $70 Million due to auction fees and capital gains taxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But it did not need to be this way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"How to Save $70 Million in a Divorce Sale in 2 minutes, using SplitFairy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bt-xtJQ-y1U?feature=oembed&#038;wmode=opaque\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-macklowe-collection\">The Macklowe Collection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the second tranche of art being sold by the Macklowes. It includes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sothebys.com\/en\/buy\/auction\/2022\/the-macklowe-collection\">30 works of art<\/a>. They range in estimated value from $500,000 to $42,500,000.  We tried to show them how to save over $200M when they <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.squarefairy.com\/es\/2021\/11\/16\/splitfairy-could-have-saved-couple-over-200-million\/\">sold the first tranche<\/a>. In total, we could have saved them a quarter of a billion dollars. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most expensive piece is expected to be one from Mark Rothko. Sotheby&#8217;s estimates it to sell for between $35,000,000 &#8211; $50,000,000. It came up with an equal 50\/50 split, with each person getting $101 Million worth of art, with one spouse getting 6 pieces, and the other getting the remaining 24. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If either Harry or Linda Macklowe want a particular artwork, they can assign it to that person, and SplitFairy will again reassign other works to make up for it.
